How a seafarer gets calls from crewing agencies instead of waiting by the sea
Why a CV sinks in a crewing agency inbox, how many companies really hire crew, and how one Marine Helper mailing delivers your CV to 4,000 companies in the fleet and countries you choose.
Page content
Three tabs with vacancies, fifteen CVs sent, and silence. Sound familiar? While you look for a contract by hand, you play a lottery where tickets are sold one at a time. A mailing changes the rules: your CV goes to every crewing agency in the fleet and region you need at once, and they are the ones who start calling.
📭 Why crewing agencies do not answer
A crewing agency receives hundreds of CVs a week. The manager opens the mailbox in the morning, scrolls through the top ten letters and closes it. Your CV, sent on Friday evening through a form on a website, sits on page three and will never be read. That is not ill will, that is statistics.
The second reason is simpler: you write to the wrong place. There are more than five thousand crewing agencies and shipowners in the world that hire crew directly, and most of them never publish vacancies at all. People are taken from their own base and from the letters that land in the crew manager’s inbox. If you are not in that inbox, for them you do not exist.
The third reason hurts the most. A vacancy closes in a day or two. By the time you saw it on a website, gathered your documents and wrote a letter, the place went to the person whose CV was already sitting with the manager.
📨 What a CV mailing is
The idea is simple. You upload your CV once, choose who should see it, and Marine Helper sends it to the working addresses of crewing agencies and shipowners. Not through a form on a website, but as a direct letter to the manager who decides whom to call for a contract.
The base today: more than 4,000 companies and about 6,700 unique addresses. It is split by fleet (merchant, tanker, offshore and drilling platforms, passenger and yachts) and by region (Ukraine, Europe, the Baltics, Greece and Turkey, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, the USA and Canada, the Middle East, Asia, Africa). There is a “whole world” direction: one letter, more than four thousand companies.
The addresses are alive. They are checked every day, unsubscribed and undelivered ones are removed. Companies you have put on your blocklist or marked as scam in your crewings.me cabinet will not get the letter. It is the same base of companies you see in the crewings.me directory.
🧭 What it looks like in practice
Four steps and ten minutes.
- Recipients. Tick the fleet and countries or the whole world at once. Next to each direction you see how many companies and addresses it has.
- Exclusions. Cross out those who must not get the letter: your current employer, an agency that did not work out. Russian companies are excluded with one tick.
- Subject and text. You can write the letter yourself, or press one of the helpers: OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Grok or the Marine Helper house template will compose a cover letter from your CV in a minute. You can leave the fields empty, then a manager writes the letter.
- Date. Choose the day and time. The mailing can be repeated in two weeks: the second wave reaches those who were on leave or on another contract the first time, and brings no fewer replies than the first.
Then payment by card or crypto, and access to the cabinet arrives by email.
📊 What happens after sending
The letters go out from a separate mailbox created for your mailing. Replies from crewing agencies land in that same mailbox, and you read them in the cabinet, in “Inbox”, with no risk of a company letter ending up in the spam of your personal mail.
The report shows how many letters were delivered, who opened, who downloaded the CV. The first opens usually appear within an hour, the first calls within the first day.
There is a bonus the service calls MarineAI: it adds addresses on top of the directions you bought, free. The order always goes out in full, MarineAI only adds addresses, and the more orders you have, the bigger the addition.
💵 What it costs
A regional direction costs from 4 to 7 dollars, a fleet from 20 to 30, the world mailing 40. For comparison: a trip to the office of one crewing agency in the next town costs more and covers one company, not four thousand. Discounts run on the site from time to time: at the time of publication it is 50% off any order until 30 October 2026.
You can pay with a card of any country or with crypto, in hryvnia, dollars or euro.
⚠️ Whom a mailing will not help
Let us be honest. If you have no working licence and certificates, a letter to four thousand companies will not create them. For cadets and seafarers without experience the site has a separate direction for inexperienced seafarers and a “First Voyage” package, where a consultation is added to the mailing.
And a mailing does not replace a decent CV. If your form was made in Word ten years ago and the photo is cut out of a passport, put it in order first: build a CV in the crewings.me builder or run your file through the free CV check on Marine Helper. A good CV and a mailing together work many times better than either alone.
💬 What those who ordered say
Thank you, ordered the mailing, and they started calling on the same day. Many interesting offers were received. Now I am choosing. Thank you very much!)
Denis Zakharov, OS
Did the mailing through this site, the mailing really works, real offers with real vacancies started coming in the next day. Very satisfied with everything, I recommend them, great guys work here, everything is honest. Whoever is looking for a job, apply, and the price is reasonable.
Igor Batalov, Fitter
The reviews are taken from the service page, where you can read them together with the scores on a ten-point scale.
🏢 For companies
The same base is available to companies. A training centre, a medical centre, a supplier or a shipowner looking for crewing partners can send its offer through it. The form is the same, a manager prepares the letter. How it works is covered in the article for companies, and you can order on the mailing for companies page.
