Responsibilities and AuthoritiesFamiliarising himself with the details of the vessel’s construction, machinery and operation, safety and other equipment;Familiarising himself with the vessel's electrical drawings, instruction manuals, test instruments and ensuring they are kept in good order, updating drawings and manuals when necessary;Maintenance and proper running of all electrical and electronic equipment such as generators, motors, switchboards, starters, automation, cabling, light fixtures and cargo equipment in co-operation with the Chief Engineer, 2nd Engineer and Gas Engineer;Ensuring the safe and effective retrofit of electrical equipment;First level maintenance of communications, radio and navigation equipment;Maintenance and check of all emergency batteries, including GMDSS emergency supply batteries;Following the requirements of the Planned Maintenance System and carrying out periodical tests;Reporting of any accident or damage to the vessel's machinery or technical plant;Administration of spare parts for electrical systems;Keeping records regarding all maintenance, both routine and emergency, on all electrical equipment, etc.;Any other duties as instructed by the Chief Engineer.
