Responsibilities and AuthoritiesFamiliarising himself with the details of the vessel’s construction, machinery and operation, safety and other equipment;Keeping engine watches as instructed by the Chief Engineer;Ensuring the effective maintenance and repair of any items of machinery or equipment as may be required by the Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer;Reporting of any accident or damage to the vessel's machinery or technical plant;Implementing, maintaining and controlling of the safety management system and security system within the technical department;Assisting the 2nd Engineer with the preparation of spare gear and repair lists;Any other duties as instructed by the Chief Engineer.
